Julia writes to us from the school where she’s working as a SMS ski camp counselor!
After a recovery week, our whole team arrived back at Stratton to an action packed scene. With SMS BKL camp wrapping and SMS Junior camp kicking off, there are lots of people around training. In addition, we have a club from Sweden also here for a camp! One of first days back we split up into groups and worked with the BKL kids on technique and agility. I must say, they are pretty darn good for their age!
I am a coaching Junior Camp this week and it has been super exciting thus far. It has been fun working with skiers from a range of ability and age and watching them challenge themselves in training. I have never really been on the coach side of things and so it is cool to gain a different perspective.
We kicked off this morning with a 2 mile uphill run test consisting of over 70 people! This afternoon each of us took a group of skiers and worked with them on technique until we all gathered in Lot 1. With our team, the junior camp, and the Swedish team all there at the same time, we had a massive group of people racing each other in starts. It is incredible how much everyone learns from racing against each other!
