Where we are what we’re doing

It’s that time of year…As everyone is gearing up for another bout of big races both domestically and and on the World Cup, the team has spread out to fine tune their training and skills.  A quick recap of where people are!

Annie Hart is back home for a week in Minnesota recovering from some high altitude back in her natural territory (manmade snow loops at 0 feet above sea level).  She’ll be heading to Ottawa next week for a NorAm mini tour in preparation for the the Ishpimeng, Michigan Supertour weekend.

Ben Saxton is also back in Minnesota, and he’ll be there until the team reunites in Michigan.  He’s putting in a good training block to hone in on his sprint speed, and eating lots of food lovingly prepared by his Midwestern mama 🙂

Erika Flowers headed to Bozeman to log some training and Montana time before she starts her first ever Boulder Mountain Tour in Sun Valley, Idaho.  It’s a net downhill mass start 30K race, and will be great practice for the Birkie 3 weeks later.  Also look out for Natalie Flowers, who is contemplating a comeback.

Paddy Caldwell and Julia Kern went back to the site of US Nationals, and are currently prepping for U23/ World Junior Championships.  Coach Pat is actually also in Park City leading the junior team.  These races kick off Monday.  Let’s make sure we get our electronic cheering on (also for PG athlete Katharine Ogden).

Jessie Diggins, Sophie Caldwell, Simi Hamilton, and Andy Newell are all in Falun, Sweden for another weekend of World Cup racing.  The team is looking strong, and ready for some Swedish redemption after just narrowly missing the women’s relay podium last weekend in Ulrichmen.  From there Sophie, Simi, and Andy will head to Pyeong Chang (that’s right, next year’s Olympic venue) for a test event, while Jessie will stay in Scandinavia for a pre-World Champ training camp.

SO, there’s a lot happening.  And things are getting exciting, as there are added Nation’s group start spots for World Cup Finals in Canada come March.  The goal is to get the whole team racing World Cups in Quebec…so we need all the rest, energy, and positive vibes we can get.  Let’s go team!
