Welcome to our new athletes!

Adam Witowski, born and raised in Rochester, NY. Growing up he skied for RXCSF where his dad was his ski coach. Adam then moved to Stratton for high school and graduated in 2018 followed by a PG year in Sun Valley. Adam just graduated from Michigan Tech University with a degree in finance this past April. A highlight from going to school in Houghton for Adam was the endless skiing all over in the Keweenaw and the crazy fall colors on the mountain bike trails. Last year he started his first World Cup sprint in, Livingo, which he explained as being a fun and insightful experience. One of his biggest accomplishments is overcoming the challenges of his snapped femur injury in 2019. Some hobbies outside of skiing include disc golf and sport watching.

Next up is Ava Thurston, a Vermont local who was born and raised in Waterbury, VT. Ava skied for Mansfield Nordic Club growing up and graduated from Harwood Union High School. She just finished up her freshman year at Dartmouth where she had a very successful freshman year on the EISA circuit. Ava was two-time, All-American at NCAAs this past spring in Lake Placid. One of her strongest accomplishments this past season was finishing the 44k in 5th place at spring series in Craftsbury! This was also the longest ski race she had ever started (very impressive). Ava was just nominated to the D Team for the USST 2023/24, this is her first USST nomination! Ava is also a very talented unicycle rider, we are excited to have Ava join us this summer and fall!

Fin Bailey, has grown up right down the road in Peru and will graduate from SMS this spring! He represented the stars and stripes last year in Finland at the U18 trip where he had an impressive fourth-place finish in the sprint! Fin is taking a gap year this year and training with the T2 team and will then join the University of Vermont ski team next year. Welcome Fin!

Last but not least is, Jack Lange! Coming to us from Lyme, NH where he grew up skiing with his family at Green Woodlands, he is definitely used to skiing that eastern ice;). Jack graduated from SMS in the spring of 2022. His favorite thing about going to SMS was the opportunities surrounding skiing and the fall camps. He just finished up his freshman year at Dartmouth where he is planning to graduate with a degree in engineering. Last year his biggest season highlight was at Junior Worlds in Whistler where he finished 11th in the 10k skate individual start. He was also an All-American at NCCAs last year as a freshman, where the Dartmouth Men’s Nordic Team was second overall on the classic day. Building mountain bike trails is a fun hobby outside of all the training and studying for Jack. We are excited to have Jack back with us in Stratton!

Welcome to all of our new athletes, we are so excited to have you join us in Stratton!
